06 · CAPACITY & ADJUSTMENT

Capacity Increase and Final Course Adjustment

Use these periods when a required major course is fully booked or when seats remain after capacity-increase processing.

StageDate & TimeWhat to do
Capacity Increase Request
(Student Request)
Aug 31 (Mon) 11:00
– Sep 4 (Fri) 14:00
Submit an online request for a fully booked major course.
Instructor Approval Aug 31 (Mon) 11:00
– Sep 4 (Fri) 24:00
The instructor approves or declines the request.
Approval is not guaranteed.
All-Years Final Course Adjustment
(Add/Drop)
Sep 7 (Mon) 17:00–24:00
Sep 8 (Tue) 11:00–24:00
Add or drop major and general-education courses that still have available seats.
Use the capacity-increase period actively If a required major course is full, submit the request as early as possible and clearly state that you are an exchange/visiting student. General-education courses are not eligible for the capacity-increase system.
Write the request reason carefully and courteously The reason entered in the capacity-increase system is shown directly to the instructor. Do not submit a one-word, casual, or vague message such as “Please approve.” Use complete and respectful sentences, and briefly explain:
  1. that you are an exchange/visiting student;
  2. why the course is academically relevant or required for degree completion, credit recognition, or your study plan at your home university;
  3. any relevant academic background or prerequisite knowledge you have; and
  4. why you were unable to register during the regular registration period.
A well-written reason helps the instructor review your request, but approval remains entirely at the instructor’s discretion.
Capacity-increase cautions
  1. Only courses opened by an academic department are eligible. General-education and common-area courses cannot use the capacity-increase system.
  2. The total credits from your current registration and capacity-increase requests cannot exceed your maximum registration limit.
  3. If an approved course overlaps even partially with an existing registered course, the existing course will be deleted.
  4. An instructor may later reject a previously approved course. Any course deleted because of the time conflict described above will not be restored.
  5. A request rejected by the instructor cannot be changed back to approved.
  6. After an instructor’s approval completes registration, the student cannot cancel that course directly. It may be withdrawn only if the instructor rejects it.
  7. The instructor determines whether capacity increase is allowed and who is eligible. Contact the instructor directly for course-specific questions.
OIA cannot override course capacity Course registration is controlled by the college and department offering the course. OIA can provide general guidance but cannot guarantee enrollment or manually add students to full courses.
