03 · IMPORTANT NOTICES

Important Notices

MOST IMPORTANT

Read both notices before applying for your visa or planning overseas travel.

Visa Application — Obtain a D-2-6 Student Visa BEFORE Entering Korea
STEP 1
Receive Your Acceptance Package

ERICA will provide the documents required for your visa application, including your Certificate of Admission (CoA).

STEP 2
Apply in Your Country of Residence

Apply to the responsible Korean Embassy or Consulate. Requirements and procedures vary by country, so follow the instructions for your location.

STEP 3
Obtain Your Visa BEFORE Departure

You MUST receive your D-2-6 student visa BEFORE entering Korea.

Visa Details

ENTRY TYPE
Single entry

Your single-entry permission is used when you enter Korea.

DEADLINE TO ENTER KOREA
90 days from visa issuance

Enter before the expiry date shown on your visa. This is not your length of stay.

Do not enter Korea on a tourist visa or under visa-free tourist conditions.ERICA does not accept a change to student status after tourist entry.
Residence Card & Overseas Travel
Do NOT leave Korea BEFORE you receive your Residence Card.Apply for Foreign Resident Registration within 90 days of entering Korea.Plan overseas travel only after receiving your Residence Card (RC).

Why Is Leaving Korea BEFORE Receiving Your RC a Problem?

1 · On Entry to Korea

Your single-entry D-2-6 visa is used when you enter Korea. The one-time entry permission has been used.

2 · If You Leave Before Receiving Your RC

Your single-entry D-2-6 visa will be automatically INVALIDATED. The student will then need to obtain a new Certificate of Admission (CoA) and a new visa, which can be time-consuming.

3 · If the Semester Has Started

ERICA cannot issue a new CoA. Without a new CoA, you cannot obtain a new student visa for this exchange.

13 · FAQ & CONTACT

FAQ: SESP

Answers to frequently asked questions about SESP selection, scholarship eligibility and the graduate pathway.

Does being nominated mean I have been selected for SESP?

No. Nomination allows you to apply. ERICA reviews application documents and invites shortlisted applicants to an online interview. The final SESP exchange selection result is expected in mid-December 2026.

What happens to my scholarship if my 1st-semester GPA is below 3.3 out of 4.5?

You will not receive the scholarship for the 2nd semester. Once selected for SESP, you can receive the 1st-semester scholarship without a GPA condition. Payment for the 2nd semester requires a 1st-semester GPA of at least 3.3 out of 4.5.

Does completing the exchange guarantee final admission to the integrated Master’s & PhD program?

No. Graduate admission is assessed separately based on your exchange performance and research potential. An additional interview may be required, and the supervising professor must approve the final decision before the exchange period ends.
