Visa Application — Obtain a D-2-6 Student Visa BEFORE Entering Korea
ERICA will provide the documents required for your visa application, including your Certificate of Admission (CoA).
Apply to the responsible Korean Embassy or Consulate. Requirements and procedures vary by country, so follow the instructions for your location.
You MUST receive your D-2-6 student visa BEFORE entering Korea.

Your single-entry permission is used when you enter Korea.
Enter before the expiry date shown on your visa. This is not your length of stay.

Why Is Leaving Korea BEFORE Receiving Your RC a Problem?
1 · On Entry to Korea
Your single-entry D-2-6 visa is used when you enter Korea. The one-time entry permission has been used.
2 · If You Leave Before Receiving Your RC
Your single-entry D-2-6 visa will be automatically INVALIDATED. The student will then need to obtain a new Certificate of Admission (CoA) and a new visa, which can be time-consuming.
3 · If the Semester Has Started
ERICA cannot issue a new CoA. Without a new CoA, you cannot obtain a new student visa for this exchange.
Qualifications
You must meet all three requirements below. Your home-university coordinator confirms your cumulative GPA in the nomination form.
Your home university must nominate you through Hanyang’s online system. Email nominations are not accepted.
You must have completed at least one semester at your home university when you are nominated.
You must meet the minimum requirement for your home grading scale.

Language Requirements
Meet either the English or Korean minimum requirement and submit the Language Proficiency Form using the case that applies to you.
Submit an accepted official test score, home-university certification, or an applicable exemption.
TOPIK Level 3 satisfies the Korean-language minimum requirement.

Financial Proof for CoA Issuance
- Financial proof must be issued on or after December 21, 2026.
- Submit documents in English or with a notarized English translation.
- Bank statements must show the account holder, available balance and issue date.
- Minimum funds: USD 6,000 for one semester / USD 11,400 for a full academic year.

- Submit the document in English or with a notarized English translation.

Graduate Students at ERICA
Do NOT select Graduate in the online application.
Only limited graduate courses in Science & Engineering are available, with professor permission.
Graduate courses appear as undergraduate courses. Your graduate level is not indicated.
Course Registration
- Check the schedule. Specific registration dates will be sent to students by email and posted in the Academic Calendar.
- Prepare alternative courses. Some courses are highly competitive, so stay flexible.
- Register during your assigned period. Register online before arrival during the period assigned to exchange students.
Courses essential for graduation: We strongly recommend completing these courses at your home university.

- Evaluation methods vary by professor. Attendance is essential to grading.
- No re-sit examinations are offered. Final grades cannot be changed through a re-sit.
- Only one Pass/Fail course per semester is permitted. Most courses use the letter grading system.
Transcript
E-transcripts are the standard format. In accordance with ERICA’s internal policy, transcripts are issued electronically.
The e-transcript is sent after the semester.
Both receive the electronic transcript.
Korean Language Courses
ERICA’s Institute of International Education (IIE) offers both courses. Survival Korean is for exchange and visiting students; Intensive Korean is open to all.

- Pay the housing fee by the announced deadline.

Hanmille connects newly arriving exchange and visiting students with current Hanyang University ERICA students for support with campus life and living in Korea.

- Check the Hanmille application email. Before the semester begins, check your email for the official application instructions.
- Submit the official application. Agree to fulfill the program responsibilities and participate actively throughout the semester.
- Receive your matching result. If successfully matched, you will receive an email from your assigned mentor approximately one week before the semester begins.
